New VXR Dry Pipe Valve is Lighter and Smaller, Features External Reset Capability

Monday, February 7, 2022 - 1pm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hastings, Michigan – The Viking Corporation announced today the new VXR valve offering available for installation in dry pipe systems. The new externally resettable, latching differential valve, which is available with groove by groove connections with sizes ranging from 2 ½ to 6 inches, also features a lower weight and smaller footprint.

“The VXR is an innovative new dry valve in the VX line,” said Martin Workman, Viking’s Vice President of Product Management. “Its external reset feature offers a convenient solution for contractors, and its lower weight and compact trim configurations make it a great option for various applications.”

The new FM-Approved and cULus Listed valve features a convenient reset located on the bottom of the valve body to easily release the clapper after activation. VXR combines a clapper and air plate assembly with a differential air-to-water seat design. The differential valve design is used to separate the water supply from the dry pipe sprinkler system. Additionally, the design allows an air / nitrogen supply of moderate pressure to control a higher water supply pressure.

VXR dry pipe valves are designed to operate a water motor alarm and/or an electric pressure alarm switch. The Viking Model D-2 Accelerator can be used to speed the operation of the valve on large capacity systems, or where faster action is required. The VXR is offered with multiple trim options such as loose trim, modular trim, pre-trimmed (includes standard trim only), and PTR pre-trimmed riser, which includes the standard trim, pressure switches, water supply control valve and coupling, all installed.

Viking’s Valve and System Configurator offers users the opportunity to save time when building a system riser digitally, while generating a complete system and materials list for project needs.
