These courses contain information that is consistent with the classroom learning portions of Viking’s instructor led training conducted at the Viking Training Facility in Caledonia, MI.  Attendance at a hands-on interactive training session is highly recommended to further understanding of system components and operation.

Customer Learning Portal
Effective September 2020, all self-paced training and assessments will be delivered through the Viking Customer Learning Portal.  The learning portal is packed with courses ranging in duration and skill level.

If a certificate is desired for your records, it is automatically available once you have completed the course and assessment with a score of at least 65%.  The certificate will indicate the number of instructional contact minutes associated with the course as indicated below.

Step 1. Link to the Viking Customer Learning Portal and click on “Create new account” under “Is this your first time here?”.  You will be prompted to create a user name (typically first initial, last name with no spaces), a password, your email address, and your name.  A valid email is required as it completes your registration.

Step 2.  Confirm registration through the link sent to your email.  Check your JUNK if you don’t receive an email.

Step 3. Log in using the credentials you created, find your course in the list, then click the course to begin.  Any courses requiring an enrollment key (signified by a key in course tile), can be accessed from the portal.

Advanced - Vacuum Technology FSS – Components (15 Minutes)
This module will introduce the components of the Vacuum Technology Fire Suppression System.  Participants will be able to identify system components and describe available system configurations.

Advanced – Vacuum Technology FSS – Operations (15 Minutes)
In this module, describe the basic operations of the Vacuum Technology Fire Suppression System while explaining the system shutdown and restoration procedures.

Advanced  – VFR400 Multi-hazard Release Control Panel (9 Minutes)
This module will cover the basic function of the VFR400 panel including programming and wiring connections.

Advanced  – Firecycle III Preaction FSS (25 Minutes)
In this course, participants will be able to describe the basic features of the system, identify components, and understand basic operation.

Advanced  – Storage Sprinkler Selection (39 Minutes)
In this course, participants will learn about the selection of storage sprinklers, including Identifying the hydraulically best suited K-factor based upon minimizing water flow, describing various storage sprinkler options for cold storage applications, and reviewing the different storage and building heights for storage sprinkler selection.

Fundamentals  – Special Sprinklers (35 Minutes)
This module provides an overview of special sprinklers and the different fire protection goals that led to their development.

Fundamentals - Introduction to Sprinklers (24 minutes)
This module provides an overview of fire sprinklers and the fire challenges they are designed to address.  This module will cover occupancy classification and its relation to fire sprinklers as well as the characteristics used to define and differentiate types of fire sprinklers.

Fundamentals – Standard Spray and Extended Coverage Sprinklers (18 Minutes)
This module provides an overview of standard spray and extended coverage sprinklers including the testing criteria that is used to differentiate between the two types. It will also cover some of the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Fundamentals - Introduction to Wet Pipe Fire Sprinkler Systems (17 Minutes)
A fundamental look at the application and functions of wet pipe sprinkler systems.

Fundamentals - Introduction to Dry Pipe Fire Sprinkler Systems (35 Minutes)
A fundamental look at the application and functions of dry pipe sprinkler systems.

Fundamentals  – Residential Sprinklers (15 Minutes)
This module provides an overview of residential sprinklers and the different fire protection goals that led to their development.  It will also include the testing criteria that is used to differentiate this category of sprinklers from commercial sprinklers.

Advanced - Deluge Systems (9 Minutes)
This module will cover the different types of deluge systems as well as the components used in a functional system. Participants should be able to explain the operation and reset procedures associated with the various types of deluge systems covered.

Advanced – Commodity Classifications (22 Minutes)
Participants will learn to identify the different commodity classifications, recognize how different pallet types can affect the product classifications, and review how both external and internal packaging have a part in determining the classification.

Advanced – Surefire Pre-action (10 Minutes)
This module will cover the identification of the components associated with the operation of the SureFire preaction valve. Additionally, the module covers the operation and restoration of the system.

Advanced – Storage Arrangements (23 Minutes)
This course will cover common arrangements of stored product.  Participants will recognize challenges associated with various storage arrangements related to fire protection.
