Caledonia, MI – The Viking Corporation is announcing today the availability of a new FM Approved fusible link ESFR dry pendent sprinkler that provides protection for box-in-box storage facilities with very cold or freezing temperatures. The new VK512 K25 ESFR dry pendent sprinkler offers ceiling only protection for applications over 40 ft and up to 50 ft without the use of in-rack sprinklers.

The new sprinkler allows for protection with a wet system, located in an adjacent heated space, versus the use of a double-interlock preaction system – saving on installation costs and offering an easier-to-maintain system. “Our new K25 ESFR dry sprinkler is revolutionary in the sense that it’s able to provide protection in that 40-50ft ceiling height range for very cold or freezing storage,” says Martin Workman, Viking’s Vice President – Product Management. “Customers won’t need to also install in-rack sprinklers when they use the VK512.”

The sprinkler is FM Approved as a quick response pendent storage sprinkler, is available with a 1-1/2” grooved connection in both Ordinary 165°F (74°C) and Intermediate 205°F (96°C) temperature ratings, and features a maximum working pressure of 175 psi (12 bar).

The VK512 sprinklers come with optional insulating seal assemblies, which isolate the clearance space around the dry barrel sprinkler. These assemblies provide many benefits, including mitigating condensation, humidity, and temperature differentials to prevent ice buildup that can lead to inhibited sprinkler performance.
