Caledonia, Mich. – Viking announces U.S. availability of the Model AX1 Aspirated Foam-Water Sprinkler Nozzl(opens in a new window)e, a new foam discharge device designed to support the industry's transition toward fluorine-free foam technologies while delivering strong fire protection performance across a range of high-hazard applications.
The AX1 is an aspirated foam-water sprinkler nozzle engineered specifically for use with Synthetic Fluorine-Free Foam (SFFF) concentrates. Unlike traditional non-aspirated sprinklers, aspirated foam devices introduce air into the foam solution as it discharges, creating a more stable foam blanket that improves fuel surface coverage and can support lower application densities and faster extinguishment performance.
The cULus Listed Model AX1 features a K3.0 (43) factor and a ½-in. NPT connection and is available in both upright and pendent configurations. The nozzle's compact design is approximately 17% shorter than comparable products, making it easier to install in tight or congested spaces while maintaining effective foam distribution.

The AX1 is designed exclusively for use with SFFF concentrates and has been tested across a wide range of fuel types, including hydrocarbons and polar solvents such as gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, alcohols, and other industrial solvents. Its aspirated discharge pattern produces a more effective foam blanket compared to standard non-aspirated sprinklers, enhancing fire suppression performance in challenging hazard environments, such as refueling applications.
