Caledonia, Mich. — Viking has expanded the XT1 sprinkler platform with the addition of a 1" NPT thread option across multiple models. The update bolsters the broad XT1 lineup with InstaSeal® capabilities and provides contractors with another connection size to better match system design and piping configurations.
This advancement is intended to solve for new commercial applications, such as office spaces, where sprinkler piping is installed during early construction phases, but final sprinkler placement and ceiling completion will occur later. In these situations, contractors can install the piping system while leaving sprinkler outlets temporarily open until final ceiling layouts are determined.
By incorporating a 1" NPT connection, contractors can utilize a single threaded connection point when drops are installed below the piping, which results in a reduction of potential leak points and simplifies installation. Additionally, in this scenario, when sprinklers are installed and removed by hand, contractors may reuse them during final installation – providing additional flexibility during the construction process.
“Contractors are looking for ways to improve installation efficiency while maintaining strong system performance,” said Martin Workman, Sr. Vice President – Product Experience at Viking. “The addition of 1-inch NPT XT1 sprinklers gives fitters a flexible option within the XT1 platform while supporting construction sequencing commonly seen in today’s commercial projects.”
All models are cULus Listed and FM Approved and are compatible with Viking’s InstaSeal® technology. InstaSeal allows sprinklers to be installed by hand when used with gasketed welded outlet fittings, eliminating the need for thread sealant and installation tools, resulting in labor savings and swift install.
The new 1" NPT XT1 sprinklers are available in Quick Response and Standard Response models in both upright and pendent orientations, with K5.6 (81) and K8.0 (115) K-factors.
