VK598 - Upright Sprinkler (Storage-Specific Application) (K25.2)

The VK598 Standard Response Upright Storage Sprinkler is FM approved for use in dry or preaction systems to protect Class I-III commodities with storage heights of up to 40 ft (12,2 m) in warehouses as high as 45 ft(13,7 m). The nominal 25.2 K-factor provides required water delivery at lower pressures to protect higher ceiling and storage heights without the need for in-rack sprinklers. The VK598 is also approved for use with open frame rack, solid piled, palletized, and bin box storage configurations, with a maximum sprinkler spacing of 10 x 10 ft (3 x 3 m).

By eliminating in-rack sprinklers, the VK598 sprinkler can significantly reduce overall system costs in freezers and refrigerated warehouses, while also increasing racking flexibility and lowering the potential risk of damage to the system by warehouse operators. With its higher K-factor, the K25 upright sprinkler provides for a lower overall starting pressure when compared to other protection options. When used in dry or pre-action systems, the VK598 design criteria requires specific water delivery times (see the product's technical datasheet). The VK598 Upright Sprinkler is available in 155°F (68°C), 175°F (79°C), 200°F (93°C), and 286°F (141°C) temperature ratings, and also approved for use in wet pipe systems and non-storage applications.
