Viking Monitored Solenoid Valve

MonitoredSolenoid

The Viking Monitored Solenoid Valve satisfies NFPA standards, particularly NFPA 13 Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, which require supervision of electric actuators used on deluge and preaction valves. Specifically, if a solenoid is removed or disconnected from the valve, the system must generate a visual and audible signal at the releasing control panel.

The monitored solenoid valve address real-world maintenance scenarios where solenoids were temporarily removed during testing and not reinstalled, leaving the system unable to trip during a fire and occupants/owners unaware.

To support compliance with the NFPA requirement and simplify system design for installers, Viking is introducing a new supervised solenoid for Viking deluge and preaction systems. The supervised design allows the releasing panel to detect removal or loss of the actuator, helping contractors meet the latest code expectations while providing greater visibility into system status.

The solenoid valve has both an inlet and an outlet. It is a pack-less, internal pilot-operated valve, suitable for use in releasing water pressure from the priming chamber of the Viking Model F Deluge Valve, VXD Deluge Valve, the Viking Model J Flow Control Valves, and the EA-1 Accelerator. The solenoid valve also has a floating diaphragm construction, which requires a minimum pressure drop across it to operate properly.
